Where I Land [Music Monday]

This weekend I spent an hour and a half with three incredible people. People who have committed to being small group leaders for our little mission development. People who have committed their time and energy to helping grow disciples. People who are allowing God to change them.

As we told condensed versions of our faith stories and shared with one another how we got to where we are, we couldn’t help but be in awe by the goodness of God. Each one of us had stories of brokenness. Places in our lives where we felt beat-up and broken down. Times when we weren’t real sure what God was calling us to. Years where we felt as if we were living in a wilderness of some sort.

And yet in each one of our stories, God revealed grace and mercy. We each, in some ways, were at a loss for words when it came to just what God had done in our lives.

As we closed our time together in prayer and went our separate ways, I couldn’t help but think of this song by J.J. Heller.

And I am lost for words
You’re more than I deserve

And when I cannot stand
You are where I land

Because isn’t that so true for those of us trying to follow Jesus? That when we think we can’t stand up any longer, we realize there’s a safe place to fall. Someone ready to catch us, love us, help us get back on track.

And for that – I am oh so thankful.
