We have gotten to the place when we can feel B-Rowe moving pretty much nonstop. Her favorite time to squirm is right as we are turning in for the night. As we do some Bible reading, listening to music, and a little bit of talking, she becomes quite the wiggle worm.
Last night part of our devotion was to read the lyrics of the traditional hymn This is My Father’s World. As I started singing it, David said he had never heard it before. So I do what we always do … a YouTube search for the song in question. We came across a very upbeat version by Go Fish. I had never heard of Go Fish before, but let me tell you … this baby girl LOVED it. David put the phone up to my tummy and she went crazy. I swear she was having a dance party up in there.
It did make me realize how thankful I am to have grown up in a traditional liturgical church, where old hymns were always included. Here’s a song that has been around for hundreds of years, and with a little bit of creativity was made into something new and relevant. The words are so poignant and timeless. There’s something about making the old new again.
This morning, I share it with you. Kick off your shoes and do some dancing. There’s no better way to start off the week!
