One of my great joy in life are the times when I have the incredible opportunity to sit down and talk faith with young people. This weekend, I had one of those opportunities. As I left the coffee shop where we talked about fears, dreams, hopes and frustrations, prayers flowed from my heart.
Prayers that the young woman I talked with would know how much I loves her. How much God loves her. Prayers that she never forget who she is. And most importantly, prayers that she never forgets whose she is.
As I sat back and reflected on our conversation, this song by Sidewalk Prophets came to mind. The words are so true for my life – so many times I’ve stayed up late or woken up early in the morning and thought of the people close to me. People who have shared intimate thoughts with me. People who have entrusted their stories to me. And my prayer for them all sounds a little bit like the chorus of this song:
Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You’re going to do great things,
I already know,
God’s got His hand on you so,
Don’t live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don’t forget why you’re here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say…
My prayer for each of you this week is the same. May you always find strength and peace in Christ, knowing that you will do great things!
