Love You More: The Divine Surprise of Adopting My Daughter [book review]

I read this book several months ago – back when I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little one. In it, Jennifer Grant beautifully tells the story of her family’s journey to adoption – from the initial inklings of the idea all the way to the assimilation of her new daughter into the family. Grant is honest in her writing – sharing the many emotions that she and her family went through during the long, arduous process of adoption.

Maybe it was the time of my life when I was reading this book, but it made me cry. More than once. As I read through the pages, I could feel every emotion that Grant was going through. From the initial hesitation to the surrender to the eager anticipation of the arrival of her new daughter … the book captivated me from page one.

My husband and I have talked about adoption many times. It’s something that we hope to do in the future. Something that we feel called to do. This book gave me just a tiny glimpse of the adoption journey that many families go through. It’s a book I will read again and again – as we pray about our decision to adopt and begin the process in several years. I love her honesty, her candor, and her openness about the journey her family went through and I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to read it.
