Goodreads Review: March

MarchMarch by Geraldine Brooks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a slower read than I had hoped, but it was a good story. I’d give it 3 1/2 stars if I could do halfsies! I learned a lot about what life might have been like as a Civil War soldier, what life might have been like as a slave during the Civil War, and the many atrocities that occurred during the war.

It’s a genius story about the father from Little Women, so it interweaves characters that many of us know and love. It makes me want to re-read Little Women!

It would definitely be a good book club book, as there are lots of issues that spark conversation about the characters and life in various places in the country during the Civil War.

I got March for Christmas as an Audio Book and I listened to it twice–the second time because there I like to go back to the flashbacks once I know the ending. Then I DID read Little Women again. I too learned a lot of things about the Civil War that I hadn’t thought about before. Great book!
