Cooking From the Farmer’s Market [book review]
Since we discovered just how much we love the farmer’s market, I’ve been looking for good recipes for all that delicious local food. This cookbook did not disappoint! It includes recipes for well-known fruits and veggies as well as recipes for obscure things I had never heard of.
Perhaps my favorite part of the whole cookbook was the information they give you about how to care for your produce. I never knew the best way to wash spinach and other leafy greens until discovered this book. Did you know you should store mushrooms in a paper bag in your fridge?
There’s also a great chart that tells you what’s in season when. If you’re a meal planner like me, this definitely comes in handy!
And the pictures … well … they are beautiful. They make me want to eat fruits and veggies nonstop!
Here are some of the recipes I just can’t wait to try:
Mixed Garden Bean Salad with Shallots – I’m not gonna lie … it’s the picture that totally makes me want this salad.
Roasted Broccoli with Red Pepper Flakes – this may sound simple, but doesn’t sound like a pop of flavor?
Broccoli & Cheddar Soup – I still haven’t found my favorite recipe for this…
Braised Cabbage with Apples – I really want to like cabbage … really…
And that’s just to name a few. We are gonna have some kind of fun with this cookbook!
