Your life is shaped by the end you live for.
You are made in the image of what you desire.
~Thomas Merton

Louie Giglio put this quote on the screen and it made my brain start to spin.  I don’t think I heard much of what Louie was saying because I became so entranced in my own thoughts.  Think back to when you learned logic in school.  If A=B and B=C, then A must=C.  Using this simple logical formula I came to a conclusion.  Genesis tells us that we are created in the image of God.  If I am made in the image of what I desire and I am made in the image of God, then the logical next step is that I desire God.

I’ve heard time and time again that we are all created with a God-shaped hole in our heart, but it never clicked in my head until I had this revelation.  If I desire God, and I live for that desire, then my life will be shaped by God.   My life will feel complete if this is the way I live my life.  This radically shifts how I spend my free time.

Just last night I chose to read my Bible instead of watch Private Practice.  Private Practice is available online – I can watch it later.  And yes, I guess my Bible will still be there later too … but had I chosen to watch Private Practice instead of read my Bible, I might have missed an incredible opportunity for God to speak to me.  Now I don’t always choose God time over TV, but it felt good last night to make the more fulfilling decision.  I pray that I continue to live my life with this new revelation and continuously seek to fulfill my desire for God.
